"Hey everyone! This week has been good! Me and my companion Elder Salavarrieta are getting along really well. I'm doing my best to be a good example to him and help him get a feel for things. Hes also taken a love for learning English and we study together a lot. I'm still adapting to being a normal missionary. The hardest part of the day sometimes is putting on socks. I don't like socks or shoes anymore. I miss my hammock as well. haha! This week has been good. My comp and I have been getting to know our area better. We've been putting so many appointments, that on long stretches of roads with no houses we literally run. This past week we found ourselves in an area called Chumical. Its a small town basically in the middle of nowehere. Me and my comp got stuck in lessons longer than we expected and couldn't find us a taxi. The long road trail was notorious for robberies and it was pitch black outside. With no car to take us past the area (they call it "area roja" ¨meaning red zone due to all the crime) I turned to my comp and advised him we both should do a small prayer. I told him.."lets make a run for it" and we literally ran about 2 miles through the area and got out of the danger zone. Luckily nothing happened but that was a fun experience. I found out this morning that there are some gang members in parts of our area. The sister missionaries weren't even allowed to go to the area. Luckily, we found some amazing people in Chumical so we will be teaching them. This week Panama had their national independence day and flag day. basically like the 4th of July in the states however without the fireworks. This week I found this Chinese convenience store selling lobsters. I did the only logical think I could think of and bought 2. I cooked me and my comp a nice dinner. In total, the 2 lobsters costed $5.00. Ha! really cheap! they were good though. Yesterday in church something crazy happened. Earlier this week we visited the home of this Kuna woman that just arrived into the city that another Kuna member showed us. In the first lesson with this woman she told us she was a member and we just figured she was a less active member. We offered to stop by her house and walk with her to church that way she would feel more safe. We walked her to church. In church I had the opportunity to teach the gospel doctrines class about tithing and she was there. At the end of the lesson I looked over and the woman we brought to church was filling out a tithing slip and putting her money in. She only speaks Kuna so we had someone translate the lesson for us. She loved church so much she said she wants to come to church every week. I had a member talk with her a little to ask questions I don't know how to say in Kuna. It turns out, she misunderstood when we asked her if she was baptized. She wasn't baptized in our church. I even took her information and looked it up on the church system to see if her membership came up. It didn't. She lived on an island where the church wasn't present. So...our investigator payed her tithing and I feel confident she will get baptized. haha!! Fun story. I don't really have a whole bunch else to report this week. A lot of walking up steep hills in this area and aching feet. Ha! Love you guys!!! Have a good week!!"
