"Hey everyone!!! Happy Halloween!! well this week has been a pretty crazy one. On Tuesday after writing everyone I got to meet the new missionary that I would be training. His name is Elder Salavarrieta and is from Columbia. Hes nearly 24 and seems like I really cool guy. The night we traveled to the area was kind of crazy. Kind of sucks having to move from one place to the next with the suitcases. We had no cellphone the first few days and we were lucky that we got off on the right stop. The assistants told us to take a bus to Veracruz and that we would see missionaries waiting and the right stop. Luckily we saw them and didn't have any problems. This past week has been difficult because I have a lot of responsibilities I've never had in the mission. I'm now a district leader and have to report everything that the missionaries in my group do each night. I'm also responsible for preparing a lesson weekly to share with the missionaries in my district. As I trainer I'm now not only doing personal study, companionship study, and language study each morning...but also one hour of something called the 12 week program which we do to train new missionaries. In the area we have about 4 meals in total with the members so we will get the chance to cook a lot. Due to lack of time we've been eating rice a lot. haha! Easy to just leave it cooking and come back later. I really love the new area. I don't think any area could beat my old area but I like Veracruz. Hey!!! guess what..I remembered that this actually isn't my first time in Veracruz. I've been there roughly 6 months ago when I did a service to clean a beach there. Whats even cooler, if you look in the September edition of the Liahona I'm in it. There are pictures from when we cleaned the beaches and I'm in both the pictures. I thought that was pretty cool. Didn't find out until this week. Our area is near the coast. There are a ton of beaches. I also love the hill/mountains. There are a ton of houses built into the hillsides. There are roads that are literally at like a 70 degree incline. All the steep walking I should be able to strengthen my legs a bit. This week we also have the opportunity to hear a talk from an apostle. Dallin H. Oaks. That was awesome. We got to go up to the temple, shake his hand, and learn from a man that is truly called of god. That was awesome. He talked a lot about the importance of serving in the mission, diligence, and doing everything we can to follow the rules and grow as individuals. That was definitely the highlight of my week. Me and my companion are getting along well. He does EVERYTHING I do. I take out my pen, he takes out his pen, I wrote something..he has to write the same thing. Its good though. Its kind of interesting though because hes a lot older than me. I'm doing my absolute best to be a good example. Hes a great guy and we get along really well. I'm teaching him English and how to be a missionary. In our home we are currently staying with two other missionaries until we can move into our own home. The hermana missionaries that worked the area before me and him are still looking for a new home and will be living in our house until they get one. Oh well. Luckily these other Elders are cool too. I took my comp and the other Elders to a historic site called Casco Antiguo. They wanted to do some sight seeing and I told them I would take them there. It was cool though because I saw some new areas I hadn't seen before and got some pictures. Well..that's pretty much it for this week. It slow opening a new area, but were founding new people and investigators the other missionaries had each day. Have a good week everyone!!! Love you guys!"
